Building steps

Cutting the stabs

Exploded view of a pallet spice rack

This shelf is made exclusively from narrow slats cut to a third of their length. In this image you have an exploded view of the piece of furniture with the 8 slats in particular. You will need only 3 narrow slats to make this shelf.

Remember that the green slats are just one yellow slat cut into 3 equal pieces. You have an exploded view of the pallet we used for this spice rack a bit above int he page, use it as a reference.

Building the two shelves

Second step of building a pallet spice rack. In this step we see how to attach the side of the shelf.

The second step is to build the two levels of the shelf, keeping in mind that each of the two front parts of the shelf is positioned slightly lower to facilitate the placement and removal of the different spice jars.

Simple screws won’t probably be enough and we recommend you to use metal angles to give each level extra structural strengh.

Building the sides and finishing up

The last step is to place the two sides of the shelf. With this last step we can secure the two levels of the shelf and finish the piece of furniture. To finish, we must sand the furniture so that the wood is smooth to the touch and has no splinters.

If you want, to finish you can apply a coat of linseed oil or paint, to match your current kitchen mood. We leave the decoration part to your choice.
